Children and Jr. Youth, enjoyed home cooking and great hospitality of the McCormick family. They also learned new names related to the Baha`i Faith and played for several hours. Adults also enjoyed meeting new friends and socializing with each other. A grate time was had by all!
On the morning of 12/28/2024, participants enjoyed pancakes, some Café de Olla and shared their beautiful prayers. We practice the song "Strive" that is from Abd'u'lBaha's Paris Talks. After prayers, children enjoyed the Sun outside and displayed their beautiful art on the side walk for everyone to enjoy.Everyone left with a butterfly card that contained the lyrics of the song "Strive".
On Monday night, Baha'is of Naperville sponsored screening of the movie Origin in the Naperville public library. Bringing the movie Origin to the community, fostered meaningful discussions about the issues raised in the film and in Isabel Wilkerson's book, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontent, which inspired the film.
This year’s National Convention was held on Sunday, October 6th, at the Prisco Community Center, hosted by the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Naperville. We had a wonderful time together, enjoying heartfelt devotional programs and engaging consultation.
This year's Naperville's Race Amity Day picnic was held in the late afternoon of Sunday June 9th, and was attended by close to 100 people. Following beautiful devotions, Dr Geneace Williams, Naperville's first Manager of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, spoke on her work in Naperville and upcoming events to be involved in as well as the meaning and mission of Race Amity. JIm Percic explained Race amity and the growing movement in Illinois, and read the Proclamation from the DuPage County Board. Cat Gaddis and her band gave an amazing performance.
On Saturday May the 11th, Baha`i Community of Naperville hosted a discussion on Baha`i Perspective on Recasting Humanity's Relationship with the Natural World.Friends from surronding communities participated in discussion at the Nichols Library. On the morning of Saturday, May the 4th, 22 members and friends of the Baha'is of Naperville participated in this year's DuPage River Sweep and cleaned a stretch of the DuPage River. Trash and many invasive plants were removed and disposed during this event. Light snack was provided and Marigolds were offered as a token of appreciation to each volunteer.
Hosted by the Lewis family, Baha`is of Naperville celebrated 12th day of Ridvan on Tuesday April 30th. Many friends from surrounding communities joined this event and were treated with a brief nature sound track along with singing of birds. Everyone enjoyed prayers chanted in Farsi and their translation in English. Children offered prayers and everyone enjoyed a beautiful musical piece at the end.
Baha`is from the surrounding communities, enjoyed the celebration of 9th day of Ridvan, held at the Waubonsie Lake Park in Aurora. This potluck party was kicked off by a devotional program organized by Behnoosh and delivered by other friends on the significance of Ridvan in the faith. Prayers in Farsi and English were offered, followed by a musical performance and a song by Phillip. Many delicious dishes were shared by friends and kids enjoyed games organized by Linda.
On February 24th, Baha`is of Naperville joined this year’s celebration of Ayyam-i-Ha, hosted by the Aurora Baha`i community at the Prisco Community Center. Believers and friends of the faith, from surrounding communities, enjoyed delightful home cooking in this potluck event.
