Screening of the movie Origin

Location

Naperville, IL

On Monday night, Baha'is of Naperville sponsored screening of the movie Origin in the Naperville public library. Bringing the movie Origin to the community, fostered meaningful discussions about the issues raised in the film and in Isabel Wilkerson's book, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontent, which inspired the film. A Zoom discussion is in plans to take place on Friday evening hosted by Ubuntu House and Pizza and Social Justice, who are two of the community organizations that worked together with us to organize the showings.

For more information, please contact us and "Naperville Origin Screening Planning Team" will get in touch with interested parties.

When you live in an old house, you may not want to go into the basement after a storm to see what the rains have brought. But choose not to look at your own peril.

We're all like homeowners who've inherited a house on a piece of land that's beautiful on the outside. But the soil is unstable.

And yes, not one of us was around when this house was built.

But here we are. The current occupants of a property with stress cracks built into the foundation, and a roof that must be replaced. We are the heirs to whatever is right or wrong with it. We didn't erect the uneven pillars. But they are ours to deal with now. The cracks won't fix themselves. Any more deterioration is on our watch.” Isabell Wilkerson
