Baha`is of Naperville participated in a Community Impact Project focused on period poverty hosted at College of Du Page, in the afternoon of February 23. Participants assembled sanitary kits for women and girls, which included both disposable and washable feminine hygiene products. These kits will be distributed by food pantries in the Chicago metro area.
This event was organized by Masuda Moutushi, a COD exchange student from Bangladesh, with support from Ubuntu House, Days for Girls and Dignity 4 Girls. Masuda is enrolled in a U.S. State Department-initiated exchange program at College of DuPage. As part of the program, each student must develop a project that addresses a need in the DuPage County community that they can also continue when they return to their home country. Masuda is developing two programs—one to serve women and girls who need feminine hygiene products and another to help people of all backgrounds heal from trauma caused by racism.
